It is never ok when someone when someone treats you badly or unfairly because of who you are. It might be because of:
- your disability or illness
- your age
- your identity, gender or sexuality
- who you choose to have a relationship with
- where you were born
- where you live
- the colour of your skin
- the language you speak
- your religion
People should not:
- hurt you
- call you names
- say nasty things about you
- stop you getting medical treatment because of who you are
- damage your things or your home
- stop you joining activities, meetings or clubs
- stop you going places because you need help and support
- refuse to provide services to you because of who you are
- hide things that you need to communicate or move around
- give you important information in a way that you cannot understand
- stop interpreters, signers or lip-readers helping you
- not respect your religion
- not respect your identity, gender or sexuality
